Do I have access to each article's content?
The full body content for each article can be made available for each article, but the storage and use of such data is subject to conditions. This feature is generally available for academic, research, or internal (not public) analysis. In some cases, you may publicly expose a small snippet of the article (nothing substantial) along with a link to the original source/article. If you'd like to inquire more, please email [email protected]. For copyright or legal questions, we encourage you to consult appropriate legal counsel in your jurisdiction.
Which cities are supported?
Perigon's API gives you access to global, national, and local news media data. We have 109 structured major metros today and enable you to search specific to local news publishers. If not already a structured metro, you can also search by any geo as well.
Which media sources are supported?
Perigon provides content from over 77,000 sources globally. These sources include major media outlets like The Washington Post, Fox News, BBC, The Guardian, Der Spiegel, or CNN, along with local news broadcasters and smaller niche (topic or industry-specific) publishers.
Which languages are supported?
Perigon’s news API supports media in 10+ languages, including, but not limited to English, German, French, Italian, Spanish and Russian. We also support translation. You can view a full list of supported languages and learn more here.
Can I add the media sources that I want?
We’re happy to explore the addition of new sources or custom source requests for customers on paid plans. There’s typically no cost for requesting the addition of new sources, assuming that the source can be supported without heavy customization, and that there is a low number of them that you need added. If you have a large number of sources to add, or if the sources require more of a custom integration, then we can develop a plan to meet your needs. What is the general latency from publication on a source and the time it hits your API?
Depending on your plan, you can expect the time between an article being published by a source and its availability via the API to be near real-time. Some content is available within a minute of its publication, while more niche publications have an average latency of approximately 5 minutes.
With article clusters, how are these scored or produced?
Clusters are computed based on the semantic and contextual similarity between the articles in the cluster and the look-back window for article inclusion is 72 hours. Articles that were published beyond 72 hours of the original cluster creation will not be included in the cluster. Articles inside a cluster could be related in different ways. For example, they could be about the same event or similar topic.
